Second skin spectrum

I plan on using Second skin spectrum on the wheel wells, and as sound dampening on inner quarters of 69 mach 1 that I am restoring. Will this product bond to SPi epoxy during the early days of the epoxys recoat window?

I think you should try a test panel, it seems nobody has tried Second Skin. Unlike some sites, you won't find people here spouting off about stuff they know nothing about. So just epoxy a piece of scrap metal and apply your sound deadener, wait at least a week, and test it by whacking it and scraping it, etc. You might even try a second one with just bare metal which is what they weirdly seem to recommend:

Keep in mind that the epoxy cures slowly, so if you test it too soon, you won't be getting an accurate assessment.

I used Second Skin Damplfier sheets and Mass Loaded Vinyl sheets 4 years ago in my 51 Ford F1 with good results. I don't recall if Spectrum was available back then. I went to their site and read about Spectrum and it appears to me to be similar to Lizard Skin.

I have no experience with Spectrum but I can vouch for the quality of the other Second Skin products, for whatever that's worth.

I would like to know if anyone has tried the Spectrum and how it compares to Lizard Skin (another product that I have no experience with).

Personally, I would (and did) use Raptor in my wheel wells, as it is known to work well in these areas, and has held up flawlessly. Stuck like crazy to SPI epoxy.

Any more experience with Second Skin over SPI epoxy. I didn't see any results on a test panel. I'm about to skin the doors of my camaro and would like to spray on some sound deadoning. Should the epoxy be cured for more than 48 hours before applying this "Second Skin" or "Lizard Skin"?

BA8BB05B-A54F-4538-A047-5C54E4BBD6AB.jpegI sprayed 4 coats of Second Skin on cured epoxy. I scuffed it with scotchbright pad first. It adheres really well. Not sure about that 48hr window. Maybe Barry will speak to that.

Sounds and looks like success. I'll just wait longer for the epoxy to cure fully and definitely take the shine off before spraying. What spray gun did you use? I have an eastwood basic undercoating gun.

I bought the gun offered by second skin. Look at their videos for tips. Definitely wash the gun out between fills.

With these types of products, we always say, to spray epoxy and 48 hours later spray the second skin.
Could you do it overnight? Sure and has been done but there are a lot of factors that can change things.
In a footnote you will have 100% adheision in about 7 days after spraying the lizard skin or the second skin.
