Seam Sealer Before or After High Build?

S

Car has SPI epoxy on it now that needs to be scuffed and recoated with more epoxy. Here are the "layers" my car will have:

1) Old Epoxy
2) New Epoxy
3) Filler work
4) 2k High Build Primer
5) Reduced Epoxy for sealer
6) Basecoat
7) Clearcoat

I need seam sealer where the quarter meets the rocker and where the quarter meets the tail pan (68 Camaro). Which layers does it go between? I was thinking either right after the new epoxy (layer 2) or right before I seal it (step 5).

Thanks,
Sal

I dont know if I did mine correct, but I put mine on over epoxy. I then scuffed and epoxy'd over the sealer and now plan to continue on through a list similar to yours. When I put 2k primer on I plan to sand most of it off my seam sealed areas to avoid any excessive film build and potential issues that brings with it.

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in as I am interested to see what is regarded as the correct way

When I restored my '67 Camaro I applied the sealer over the final sanded 2K primer. I sealed over the whole car then painted BC/CC.
Which sealer are you using?

Mike
