Sagola 4600/4500

I'm wondering if anyone has both sagola 4500 and 4600. I want to know if the air caps interchange.

I have a 4500 that used to live in its box until I decided it could be a sealer gun. I use a ws400 for clear.

I know they say nothing is interchangeable but the companies usually lie. Sata guns are interchangeable. 5000 is just an air cap away from a 4000. I demoed a 5500 and put the air cap center on the 5000. Did a pattern test and looked good. Did not get a chance to spray that way. Was trying a 5500 rp 1.3I for water borne base. Good base coat gun but slow for clear.

Thanks

They must be re-using part numbers. The air cap hole arrangement is completely different from 4500 to 4600.

I can tell you for sure the 4500 clear cap and the 4600 clear cap are not even remotely the same. I also thought the nozzle and needle were different as well. You might be further ahead just selling the 4500 and buying a 4600. Do you not like the 4500? 4600’s are faster…but the 4500 is still a great spraying gun. One thing about them is you must clean the air cap well. They have 10 small holes in the cap. If they get partially clogged from not being cleaned well it will start messing with the way it sprays. That’s very crucial to keep the 4500’s spraying well.

I keep my guns very clean. Have a gun washer then hand clean.

It's slow, I have the 1.3xl with the clear cap. It sprays chunky wide open so by the time I dial the fluid down it gets slower. I have not used it for clear in years, will give it a go with the new clear we use now. Low voc clears are not the friendliest. If the gun puts down a thick chunky first coat it's going to die back.

Other painter said the sata 5500 we demoed is a garden hose, I think it's slow. It's the rp 1.3 I.

My ws400 has a 1.4hd.

I have thought about buying the 4600 and comparing the 2 to see what the difference is.

Gave the 4500 a go today. Clear makes a huge difference with that gun. Now it breaks it up too much. Ended up wide open 25 psi and turned the fan in. Will have to narrow the fan more to try to speed it up. Material consumption was worse than the ws400. Sprayed the side of a car and a complete motorcycle.

I'm very confused with your post.
You have too many "changes" you don't fully explain?

At first the gun at 30 psi and full fan was not putting much clear on the panel, droplets were too small. I dropped the pressure and I also narrowed the fan width. Makes it spray wetter. Just have to juggle between how much I can narrow the fan before it will not atomize well and be a fire hose. I adjusted while spraying on the car so got it usable and went with it. With a bit of time can dial it in.

I spray close and fast, I try to make the gun work that way. Will check it's spray pattern size tomorrow and how many turns to cut it down.

Well good luck with your gun, but I don't have any experience with the Segola. You seem to be trying to push the gun beyond its intent?

I bought the 4600. Got the 1.2xl aqua and the titania pro air cap. Only got to use it on motorcycle parts. I paint 1 whole motorcycle on over time a week. Base coat went fine, the titania pro cap and the clear I use don't exactly like each other. It turned out fine. I ended up choking the gun down 3 turns on the fluid and spraying at 30 psi. Was still fast. Going to try clearing with the aqua cap.

The only interchangeable part between the 4500 and 4600 is the center of the air cap. They tweaked everything a little bit in length. When I get a chance I will interchange the air caps and see what happens.

They did fix the thing I hate on the 4500, the trigger. Half trigger works now. The 4500 half trigger is hard to control as its too short before it sprays paint.

I'm in the middle of some fabrication so booth time is limited.

What is your intention with this gun? Bc? Cc? Both? The 4600 you ordered sounds much better off as a base gun. I’ve cleared with a 4600 1.3xl clear cap and it’s anything but slow and provides a nice finish. But as we all know there are many variables from one person to the next. Weather, materials, air setup, spraying style, etc etc.

I want to try it for both.

Likely going to get the dvr clear cap.

I have alot of spray guns, going to sell a few once I decide which ones I like the most.

I love my Sagola 4600, it is an air hog but it also completes a panel twice as fast as my Iwata,
so my compressor really doesn't work any harder.
FYI. I run it at 30psi, fluid knob out 3 turns.

I use the orange one that came with the gun, I have a green one for base but haven't
noticed much difference so I use the orange one for base too, sometimes for
base I lower the pressure to 25 psi.

I did another round of motorcycle parts today. I cleared with the aqua cap. It works alot better with this clear. I did do a quick test with the 4500 clear cap on the 4600. Sprayed good and faster than the 4500.

I ordered the orange dvr clear air cap.

I tried the orange clear cap yesterday. It works really good. Best setup I have tried. Was another motorcycle.

I have been on a fabrication job for 5 weeks, no idea when I will get to spray something bigger. Have 4 more motorcycles to do. Changed the color on 31 of 35 so far
