Rusty or others, I am looking for an a/c unit

I am looking at the possibility of installing a 1967/68 Mustang OEM heater/ac heater and defrost box in my 1965 Mustang. The type mounted to the firewall, NOT the unit that hangs under the center of the dash.

I know it is not a direct fit, prolly far from it. I want full featured a/c not aftermarket, sorta kinda a/c.

I would like to stay away from the big box hanging on the firewall like the Hurricane unit, also I don't want to loose the outside air feature, and certainly do not want anything unit hanging on the edge of the dash .

All of the aftermarket units I have studied to not have a vent feature, either heat or a/c.

I really don't see why they do not have a vent feature and utilize the center control lever to operate this feature, grrrrrrrrrr.

Does anyone have this unit that attaches to the interior side of the firewall, maybe from a car that received a smoothed firewall and aftermarket type a/c?

I would sure like to see if I can make it work without reinventing the wheel, lol.

Another option is use of a later model eom system that is a modular fit type.
My only experience was with an 89 Geo tracker, the whole unit was made to dam near drop in and out.

All of you collision guys and others, what model/fitment might be made to work for me?

Thanks, SOF.

Have you looked at national parts depot they used to have a bunch of factory replacement boxes. A friend of mine got the pieces and parts for his 66 ac conversion from them. then went with vintage air ac compressor / condenser upgrade.
