Removing gun filter when spraying SPI epoxy question.

I read you should remove the gun filter when spraying unreduced epoxy.

Here's my two questions.
1. I'm using 3M PPS-2 disposable cups that have a screen filter. Should I remove the cup filter for unreduced epoxy?

2. When it comes times to spray a sealer coat of reduced epoxy, should a gun filter and 3M PPS-2 cup filter be used?

Thank you,
Mike

Never leave the filter in, you dont need it and it causes a whole list of problems, or can.

Thank you,

Spraying the truck lid in an hour. Epoxy has been mixed 1 to 1 and will have induced for 4 hours. Trunk lid was washed with dawn dish soap, stripped of paint using a razor blade, metal conditioned with a Marron roloc disk, da with 3/16" random orbital and 80 grit. Trunk lid blown off with air after da, and wiped down with SPI 700 W&G four times until towel was clean.

130psi to gun regulator, gun regulator 26psi. Will adjust gun regulator with my test sprays on the wall covered with paper.
Temp is 78 degrees with 72 humidity.
I think I'm set.

How'd the trunk lid turn out? Off topic comment: nice stand you got there. I'm in the process of designing / making similar to paint doors, slider and rear hatch of a Vanagon (heavy items). Any alterations to what is show that you'd recommend as far as usability goes?

Yes, full update here In the restoration forum http://www.spiuserforum.com/index.p...uda-restoration-thread.7912/page-3#post-88905

I can't think of any other modifications I would make to that painters rack. I chose the perforated tube steel so I can bolt steel supports to it and use it like a Christmas tree rack if so desired. I will use that when I start working on the doors of the car. I fabricated this because what I found on line just didn't look very heavy duty, and reviews confirmed this with not being able to handle doors without it bowing. I'm now 270 pounds ( down from 298) and I could do a pull up with the upper support barely bowing.
