Random orbital for color sanding

I've got a couple ARO palm sanders, both with 3/16" orbit. All my previous color sanding has been by hand but I'd like to move on to something less time consuming for a couple upcoming jobs. I've read all the big thread on color sanding and learned a lot, but I didn't see any recommendation for orbit diameter. Seems like most everything is either 3/16 or 3/32. Does one work better than the other? Or does it not matter? I'd rather not buy another sander as I like the ones I've got, but would if the smaller orbit ones are better for color sanding.

Stick with your 3/16". 3/32" sanders don't cut near as fast, and the finish is no better, IMO.

3/32" sux. they are terrible and do next to nothing. dont waste your money. 3/16" is the way to go

Thanks guys. Like most folks, I've bought enough stuff over the years that doesn't do much of nothing. Don't need to add anything to that collection

I fell for the marketing bs about 3/32 orbits. Never knew better till Jim set me straight a few years ago.

I use two Dynabrade 3/16 orbit sanders for color sanding and have never looked back, All I have learned has been by myself and this forum where professional information is freely given!
