Question about epoxy sealer and single stage paint

I'm not there yet but planning ahead and trying to get educated about epoxy mixed as a sealer.

I've read the perfect paint job instructions as well as searched the forum threads about epoxy as a sealer, and in almost every case the benefits discussed are about improving the adhesion of base coat to the underlying primer and to help reduce chipping.

What about singe stage urethane? I understand it sprays a lot wetter than base and flows better into sand scratches, so does epoxy as a sealer still provide as much adhesion benefit and is recommended? Does single stage sprayed over sanded 2K primer chip easier than if epoxy sealer is used first? Not trying to cheap out, just want to make sure I am not doing a step that is designed mainly for BC/CC since I will be spraying SS.

Last question: I've read a lot of comments about the need to spray the sealer like it was base...since I've never shot base I don't know what that means. Could someone describe how the method of spraying epoxy as a sealer differs from just spraying normal epoxy?

Thanks for your time!

Michael

Epoxy provides the same adhesion benefits under SS as it does under base. Spraying like base means don't hammer it on as wet as you would SS or clear. it's thinner than a urethane topcoat and will run if sprayed too wet.
