Question About Chevy Van Paint Failure

I hope I posted this in the right forum.
I have a 2012 Chevrolet Express work van.
I see a lot of Chevy vans with the paint peeling off everywhere on the vans. The primer stays but the paint (white) just peels right off.
My van was perfect untill about 6 months ago.
I noticed what looked like a small rock chip and it will not stop growing. Now i have multiple places on the hood and front leading edge of the fenders that is peeling in a bad way. It seems now that rain is getting under paint and making big blisters that peel and now out of control.
Does the whole van need attention or just the affected areas?
What is the best procedure to stop this from happening?
What are the body guys doing in this situation?
I try to keep my van looking good but this is out of control now. Its very aggravating and i know i am not the only one this has happened to.
I am open to any and all suggestions.

It's a factory defect, usually it's the topcoat not sufficiently protecting the primer against UV radiation. The primer degrades and delamination of the still-shiny topcoat occurs. In these cases, the only sure cure is to strip all the finish from surfaces that have seen significant UV (sunlight). Other causes seem to be that there is simply adhesion loss between the primer and the base coat, this could be from over-baking the primer, or a problem with the composition of the base coat, which is water borne and therefore does not have a lot of solvent to soften and penetrate the substrate.

Yours lasted longer than most. There is no stopping it. The only permanent fix is to strip to metal, epoxy and paint. Anything else will not last. Definitely not a job for the faint of heart.

If a van has been used every day for ten years a factory, non babied paint did pretty good
To last that long. (Depends on a lot of factors)
Paint just gave out.

I talked about this before..............Use to do work for a few guys who worked at the Baltimore GM plant and they talked about the paint problem as Crash said over baking the primer or under coat just a micro second longer made a big mess later.months down the road.

I did mine 10 years ago. Just sanded back the affected areas then epoxied. Still going strong.

Not sure what you're talking about here, haven't seen a peeling chevy van since, uh, I came in the house for the night.:p

Even a strip sanding , nason 2k priming , & nason single stage recoating from a decent Maaco chain store can outlast that factory mess. Some spi wht single stage should outlast the van. Would be a much brighter white though.
