Production clear

Anyone ever thin out the production clear? I do a lot of spraying in high humidity and high heat. Having trouble with it not going on wet enough even with slow hardener

Retarder- 2-4 ounces per 32 ounces RTS. All coats not just the last one. Production is similar to Universal in that it doesn't flow out a whole lot. At least that has been my experience with it. Reducing it more helps as does using retarder in typical summer conditions. Experiment with the amount of reducer. (see the tech manual for more info) Also spray the first coat wet. Like most clears if you have some texture in that first coat it will carry over through all coats. Getting that first coat slick is key.

I have always had better luck mixing clear thicker (less reducer) in the summer than the winter. Temperatures change the viscosity. The thinner it is, the faster it dries, the opposite of what you want. Retarder is the only option with production, IMO.

I've never used Production but I did just look at the manual. There's an extra slow activator. Have you tried that? What size tip are you using? The manual also said that if you're doing an all over and it's hot, you can spray back to back coats. SPI clears aren't made to flow out. Spray like you want it to look.
