Primer help

Hello, Is their anyway to tell if a car had (epoxy on it vs just regular primer) it was painted about 4yrs ago at a local shop and we are redoing it again because of rust in the quarters i started sanding the roof and it has gray primer 1st yellow 2nd then paint if I could know the 1st primer was epoxy I wouldn’t strip it all the way down. Take a little lacquer thinner to it. Epoxy won’t be affected. I’m betting it is not epoxy....

Just a reminder not all epoxys are resistant to lacquer thinner like spi. I know lacquer will remove ppg dplf and transtar epoxy. I done my project right cause I stripped it twice I'm glad for this forum!

Exactly and in my book it would need to come off after this time even if it is epoxy and lacquer thinner attacks it.
