PPG Cre High Build Epoxy Primer

That was Randy pretending he was from Japan. "sumo" Fat thick, I'm sure is what he meant.

There is a reason, these did not take hold as time will kill a weak product, no matter how good the marketing ploy is.

Your right about the Sumo. The can had a pic of a Sumo sized rabbit.

The last time I bought a Gallon of CRE I was told it was being discontinued? I also tried it for some watercraft repairs LOL-my Daughter in-law's Kyack-sp? and my Son tried it on some misc. rust repairs. I have to say the build was great, the time to sand was fast, sprayed thick but also accepted reducer if you needed it thinner. But it was brittle as hell once full cure was reached and adhesion to 80 grit sanded bare metal wasn't good IMO. The activator was wierd-really really thick.

I am just fine with using SPI epoxy the way I do now but I'm always looking to improve my proceedures and I do wish there was a high build sandable true epoxy available that would give the results I need. If you're not after improving your techniques or products than quality and time spent will remain the same.

One coat Shine... with your week between sanding coats of epoxy do you think you could save some time if there was an epoxy available to give you the build needed to start sanding with 100 and still enough build left to step it down two more grits without recoating-think about it. I remember a few years back how apprehensive you were at even considering doing a job with all epoxy-bet you're glad you did!

over the years i have used many epoxies. mostly marine applications on scooter tanks and frames. i refuse to even look at anything commercial . always low quality and useless for automotive.

i only wait 24 hrs to block each coat. a few years back i was so fed up with dupont and ppg it was either find a new source or retire from painting. dplf is worthless crap as is duponts epoxy. i wont use sw on a dog house . hok was having problems back then also. sikens bit me in the ass one time too many back in the 70/80's . so i was running out of options. i was pretty hard on barry in the beginning as i dont trust a paint rep as far as i can drop kick one. seems i said i would come to Georgia after him if his stuff didn't perform :) i was determined to get rid of urethane primer all together and did not want any polyester on it at all. personally i think high build creates more trouble than it solves. if two coats at 12 mill does not do it then it was not ready to prime. i had a total of 3 coats on the 57 vette . but keep in mind i push it to the very limit so they were double coats. the car has not dried down or hazed . it's seen many hours setting in the sun at shows and so far has won 1st or best of show at each show.
