Haven't used any in awhile, last I used was featherfill G2. What's the favorite/most popular now days? I see Evercoat has slicksand & superbuild 4:1 along with the G2.
Then there is Clausen's Z chrome stuff.

Just love it.
I personally never have used it.

most of the corvette guys i know use it and swear by it . while i am not a fan of polyester i do use the slicksand on some stuff. any fiberglass work is strictly epoxy. i have 0 use for polyester resin on glass work.

I used the superbuild last 2 jobs and I like it - seems to sand easy to me but I have limited experience with the stuff - I thought it gave a pretty good build and probably saved me a few days of work

I have used a lot of Clausen Z-Chrome Rust Defender and I’ve never had a problem. Worst part is stirring it by hand if you don’t have a shaker. Sands well and doesn’t seem to shrink much. I find the best price on eBay.

In my limited experience, I've used U-Pol Reface sprayable polyester with mostly good results over fiberglass composites. Some caution should be taken in stirring, hardener quantity (better have a scale to be sure its not under or over 'hardened') and drying process.
It has cracked on me in front of IR lights. Asked an experienced local painter and he agreed that it benefits from a slow drying process. Due to this cracking experience, I would not use it over thermoplastics (ABS, etc) despite sticking beautifully to them.
Hopefully nobody finds my comment abusive (not an expert by any means).

Barry, the clausen z chrome says "etches to bare metal". I have not sprayed poly in a long time but I have a project that needs it. What would the best procedure be? Can I SPI epoxy, wait a day (or 2), spray clausen, block and follow with more or regular 2k and either final prime with regular 2k or epoxy before top coat?

Thanks

i have a mixer blade with a piece welded to extend it. i use my drill with it to mix heavy primers and epoxy .

WELL, they have in the past said you could paint over it also with base, so I leave that of too you to take it for what that statement is worth.
Personally, if just a normal everyday job us it over bare metal, if a valuable car use over epoxy.
