polar accelerator getting old?

S

shot the underside of a hood today & added just a splash of accelerator as I usually do on the underneath side of hoods/doors etc. first coat shot great, second coat also shot great, but after curing out about 1/2 hr, its drying grainy & flat. what did I do wrong or is this stuff getting old & a little volatile? temp is at 75 deg. shot thru a sata rp with 1.4 tip. first time I've had this issue. used it about a month ago on another hood in same conditions & it worked fine.

will it be o.k to wetsand tomorrow & blow another coat of non accelerated clear on?

Yes to the re-clearing.

This is the first I have ever heard of "the or a" polar accelerator going bad, YES it can, rare but a lot of it would be how much was used out of the can when put in storage.

The Tin has sucked up moisture and what you are seeing is what is called ISO-clumping.

barry,

sorry it took so long to get back on here & say 'thanks" for the info. after posting sun afternoon, this job changed directions from matching the color & shooting the hood into a total disassembly & two toning the top half of the car... I had another big job that was scheduled to be here this week (55 merc sun valley/sunliner), so managed to put it off for a few more days, but not far enough off that I would lose it so been cranking out some hours his week.
