Phosphoric acid to stop rust

T

Too Many Projects

I've read about this pertaining to Ospho, but the product I have a is a milkhouse cleaner with a 48% concentration. I am thinking to mix it 60/40 with water, as I need about 4 gallons in a 5 gallon pail to dip the dogleg of a front fender in. About how long should this sit and then do I rinse it as good as possible with a hose and nozzle ? It will be nearly impossible to get a direct stream between the support and skin. After the rinse do I dip it to wet it again and then let it air dry or blow dry ? After it is dry, with whatever method is recommended, I can then apply the 6610 primer without any further actions ?
Sorry for being a newbie, but I'd like to only do this once and correctly.

just be careful. if you leave it submerged for too long it will eat the metal until there is nothing left

I thought that was Muriatic acid. This is about the same as Ospho...
