"Perfect paint" spot repair and mils question?

Howdy! New to paint, just finished a 65 Mustang in Chromabase finished with three coats universal then cut n buffed (used 69 Coronets method) Looks amazing for a garage built car.

Now I'm mulling over a future project and have a question in regards to "the perfect paint job" method. On a car with that many coats of clear how do you handle a spot repair?
Say for a typical repair on standard three clear coat job I would lay some base over the trouble spot then shoot two or three coats of clear over the entire panel and finish with a cut and buff. If there's already 5 coats before the repair then I lay an additional 2 or 3 would that be too many mils of clear on the car? I know you do lose some mil during cut and buff processes.

Probably over thinking this but just curious if there's anything to worry about there as my cars are driven a lot, paint repair isn't uncommon.
