Peanuts

Joe in NY

Personally, I hate the plastic peanuts used as packing materials. Well, to my pleasant surprise, I just realized the peanuts in the SPI boxes are not plastic but are water soluble. So, I'm thinking they are most likely plant based. Barry, can you confirm they are organic and that it is safe to just dissolve them in the sink and send them down the drain?

I applaud SPI for using (what I think is) a plant based packing material instead of the plastic. Might be beneficial to make sure everyone is aware of this.

Your state declared war on styrofoam for packing & food this year.
Banned it as of middle of year. Was allowed till then to use it up.
Moved south 15yrs ago, only thing good in ew york is pizza & chinese food.
Hit 3 potholes in 15yrs.

Joe,
As stated in the above posts, may not be as good as a New York pizza but you can eat them if hungry, lol

And Joe, in fairness, the new peanuts might taste better then 1/2 the pizza crusts down here :)
Discovered frozen pies & it works with a sprinkle of oregano. Yes I miss the food.

i found out the hard way that peanuts suck for shipping glass jars . :(
we dont eat store bought pizza . my bride makes all our breads and such .

I like any type of pizza :). Hot, cold, room temperature, does not matter. Frozen, homemade, or from a restaurant. My Dad who was an Old guy already (64) when I was born used to tell me about the pizza's he had in NYC in the 40's at a place run by a fresh off the boat Italian. Said they were the best he ever had. I never believed him until I was visiting my Sis in NYC in the '90's. Went to a place owned by a Italian immigrant and my goodness, that was the best I've ever had. So I guess the old man knew a thing or two.:)

Salute to your dad for still getting it done at 64!

My Mom was 27 when I was born so he must have been doing something right.:) I never knew how old he really was until I got into my late teens. He would never tell us (me and my younger sister) and we knew not to ask. :) I always got a kick out of him calling my Grandma on my Mom's side "Mom" when he was 4 years older than her.:)

Yeah, mine too. I worked with a real eyetalian who actually owned a pizza parlor. Asked him for his recipe for dough and I just kept getting, flour, water and yeast. No secrets, all we really found is getting the big blocks of yeast are much better than the envelopes you get, so I guess we could not tell you how we make ours either. Grew up with bisquick crust pizza, so pretty much anything is better than that.

I usually do 2 summer weeks up there. Last couple times for lunch i'd park by door of different pizza joints, call from car, tell them my chair situation & get served door to door :) Man i'm getting hungry.

Bread- i was bribed with if i went to church, we'd stop at bakery going home. Best dinner rolls i've ever had, they sold, new not same BUT they still in business in Jersey. North of Newark a few exits & west.

Well from peanuts to pizza, I have to add this doc video. I viewed it at film festival in NY, was there for friends film.
It's touching & family friendly. My bro can vouch for it being best pizza you may ever have. It's in Brooklyn.

My daughter lived in Manhattan for six years after college so we visited NYC a lot. The food there is truly amazing - everything from fine dining to the fast food Indian place where all the cabbies eat. I grew up in Springfield, MA and the pizza there was outstanding. Missed it terribly when I moved to upstate NY where a good pizza is as rare as an honest politician. Funny thing is, most of the best pizza places in Springfield were owned by Greeks. I know what I'm having for dinner tonight.

Growing up we had a place in Batavia, NY called Geno's Pizza. A mom and pop place with one pizza oven and a pool table.
Their pizza is still the best I've ever had.

Oh, by the way, I hope things never get so bad that I have to try eating packing peanuts.
