Paint gun cleanup

I have some old, nasty paint guns that have dried paint or primer on them. Is there anything left on the market that will remove it?

TK soaking them in good urethane reducer like SPI's will work too. Cover it up let it soak for a day or two, most everything left will flake off and clean up with the nylon type gun cleaning brushes. Cheaper to try than the Berrymans. Berrymans that they sell around here is not the Berrymans of 30 years ago. It is some sort of VOC compliant formula. That post from Barry was 10 years ago so I'm sure they have been forced to change the formula in the time since.

No more methylene chloride in paint stripper, gun cleaner, or carb cleaner. I was just hoping someone had used an alternative that works even close to the same. I will try the reducer. The carb cleaner used to work in minutes, the new stuff doesn't even work overnight. I rebuilt a quadrajet for my son a few months ago, and after several hours it was still dirty. Ended up using brake parts cleaner and it worked much better. Wish I still had my 5 gallon pail of Chem Dip, but the can finally rusted through after 10+ years and I got rid of it, not knowing I wouldn't be able to buy more.

You can still buy methylene chloride by itself..have no idea how to mix it to make stripper..

with something even harder to get, phenols. Those are what are in military spec paint stripper, sold only to the military. I did get spray cans marked Methylene Chloride paint stripper from McMaster carr, does not have that pungent smell of what melts layers of skin off fingers. It made it down to the epoxy coat, so if its full of epoxy it probably wont work. Strongest you can probably buy is an aircraft stripper.

Most of the "safer" stuff works when heated.

If you want to really clean the small parts of your gun, like the air cap and fluid nozzle,
get a small ultrasonic cleaner for jewelry, like this one on Amazon for under $25.00.
I fill with water and sit a small glass in the water filled with thinner.
It works real good.

Now this seems like something that would work!
