Moved to this "color section"

Hi guys, I'm moving closer to color on a 1958 plymouth 2 dr hard top. This car is a "Cristine" tribute of sorts. We aren't following the christine movie car recipe to the letter, but my customer does like having some of that Christine attention.

Here's my question, I'm trying to decide between base/clear (universal clear). Or, single stage, level the OP to about 800 grit, shoot the clear.

These are solid colors, red body with a white roof.

I'm currently blocking spray poly to 220, which may be fine enough to seal and shoot single stage over. Or, I'll shoot a medium coat of 2k and reblock to 400 in preparation for base coat.

Either way, it's going to end with universal clear that I block, compound and polish.

Pro's cons to the 2 color step choices?

Thanks.

Not much help but I like single stage with no clear for non metallic colors. I think it makes the colors more vibrant.
