Old Dodge

What I am working on now... Tested my very rusty skills on my Yukon and now going to hit the dodge. If all else fails and I end up with a really nice orange effect it should fly threw the air like a golf ball at least. And most of all I want have to see the paint peeling off going down the interstate or wonder when water will finally make it to the inside. ; )

Im working on the same generation dodge as you. Mines a 98 quad cab with the 12 valve cummins.

I have a nv4500 i know someone was in there once before and i rebuilt it once i bought it. The dust boot where the shifter goes in dry rotted and let all kinds of trash in.

mine is the automatic w over drive button, if you try to tow with out being in overdrive its really bad feels like just what it is, stuck in a low gear with higher rpm, i don't use it and just been replacing as needed. I read something about a company near me in GA that says they can rebuild it to hold up and back it with a good warranty .. cost was up there but if you figure down time and replace or rebuild every 7--10 years it would be worth it. Thought about a manual but it sure it nice towing with auto in traffic.

Ive heard that you can get them built to hold up better but no first hand experience myself with them. How is your project coming along?

Well after ALOT of hours I have completed several repairs and the paint. Still have some areas i will need to wet sand and buff out but needed a break and waiting on my hood deflectors and some other parts to arrive. I had no idea how much work an overall paint would be I have a new respect for someone that does this day in day out.

I thank everyone at SPI for your help # 1 customer service and overall company I have ever worked with. Barry I figured out what was going on with the areas that reacted and corrected it enough I can live with it lol Thank you for your help. The colors are stock PW7 white with a ghost blue pearl, two tone color is gm pewter (left over from my Yukon) used behind the door and on the fiberglass kit strips and lower. It all worked out great. The primer is SPI white epoxy. best stuff i have ever worked with and will be on my list for all new projects. the top coat clear on truck is also SPI as is the inter-coat. Fiberglass clear is Shop line Euro i had left over. was running low on the SPI.
