So when I say best opinions are welcome. I would like the easiest to flow out flat and shine at car shows "the wow factor" and to last a long time.
The best clear SPI makes is Universal. IMO it's as good or better than anything available. The only thing that PPG makes that's close is their DCU 2002 clear. Barry has actually told me that it's still a good clear. Universal is a high solids clear. One of the highest solids available. Universal sprays really nice but there is a bit of a learning curve to spraying it correctly compared to low and medium solids clears. It also uses premium UV inhibitors and the most of any clear on the market.

Contrary to what some have said, it is not a soft clear. I've sprayed six coats of it and two days later it would not imprint with my fingernail.

The easiest to spray clear SPI sells IMO is Euro. It sprays nice. Easier if you don't have a lot of experience spraying. It would be a good choice as well.

The easiest to spray clears are low solids. A monkey could get low solids to lay out. Low solids are also the lowest quality and usually don't last. Especially off brands/ private label stuff. There are several clears out there that will die in 6 months because they have almost no UV inhibitors in them.

Next easiest are medium solids clears. The majority of clears available today from the Majors are going to be medium solids. They require better technique than spraying low solids but aren't hard to spray.

Hi solids are the "hardest" to spray but that is relative. They just require proper techniques and correct air pressure. Once you get that right a clear like SPI Universal sprays as nice as anything.

Also the more reducer you add, the more you reduce the solids of whatever clear you are using.

And don't take the ribbing the guys were giving you personally. It's just what you are doing is not going to work. You will see when you try to buff.

I use DT860 medium speed and about 8 inches at 29 PSI full fan 1/2 turn in.
Your fluid is half turn in? If youre getting heavy peel, id open the fluid all the way up, then just practice. Your not putting it on heavy enough. May need to get closer to panel and/or slow your spraying speed. I spray devilbiss but never used that particular model gun but devilbiss are slower guns than some of the other brands. May also need to increase overlap. If youre at 50% overlap, go to 75%.
