Need some advice here on a 73 charger project..........

I worked with a guy who put that much filler on a lot of stuff. Kinda looks like something he would have done. Funny thing is when he got done with something like that he thought he was doing quality work.
Make sure you get paid Orange.

Slowly trying to locate some factory parts for this re-build. Found a place in Phoenix that has what I am looking for. Prices seem a little high, but doable, problem is shipping is going to be over $500, lol.

Still searching.

Its not too terrible. The door jamb inner lock panel has to be a factory part as nobody makes it. They do make a rocker panel, but not the inner and I may need that part also so the way they cut this off the car I would get the entire quarter panel up to the roof, the wheelhouse inner and outer and all the way to the front of the rocker. Don't mind the surface rust as these parts would go right to the blaster and clean up just fine. Parts are about $1000 and the Shipping is $500.

As far as the cars value. I am not one to judge putting too much money into a car. I was big into drag racing and street racing awhile back, I cringe when I think of the money I have put into building and fixing my cars, lol!!

But hes owned this car for 15-20 years and says he has no intentions of selling it.

How realistic. It gives great perspective into the buying and owning market.

Yup, sometimes you just gotta deal with it, but hey your getting paid! There is a Mopar yard here in Oregon out in Sandy. Have not been there in a decade so.

Wish I could help more, I am sure the customer will be happy when you're done. It is not a perfect world out there.

The plot thickens..............FML ... They make floor sections. This is gonna be a learning experience for sure, lol

How did no one notice that before this? Did he not look under the car? I see a porta-power in the foreground there, word of advice, before you cut it out and replace, get it on a frame machine and pull the side out. Measure at the very least with a tram and get everything square. Strong chance the entire car is in a mild "C" shape. Even if you are replacing all the damage. Trust me on this. If not you'll cut out the damage, then when up you go to fit up the recycled stuff it won't fit. That damage extends farther than what you can see. If it's in a C the door will never fit right. Even if you don't think so, if you don't have any experience doing heavy collision repair then you need to get it on a machine, measure it and pull. Otherwise you just trade one form of butchery for another.

One more thing if you cut out the damage first then it is too late to pull it if you have to. You will be screwed. Get it on a machine, pull, and measure.

I think he knew it was there, but just went with it for the last 20 years. It's really a mess of a situation.

Looking good.
The car must be a 100 pounds lighter at this point with all the filler you removed.
Did you end up replacing the floor pan that was kinked?

Yes I did. After wasting about 3 weeks trying to get someone to put this POS on a frame machine I gave up and just did it myself with my Oak tree, a come along and my porta-power. I dont have any pics of that process. We actually had new neighbors moving in while I was going it and my wife was uber pissed at me that they saw it all going down..hahahahaha

Is it perfect and dead on??: LMAO....no!! But its very close I was able to locate all of the factory frame specs at least, and its far better than it was. When I put all the donor parts on everything seemed to fit pretty decent.

Do I care??: Not one bit, this project turned into something I never wanted it to be and its already cost me thousands in having to pass up other work. This guy is on a tight budget(as is everyone) and once again I fell victim to myself and decided to help a person out and only hurt myself in the process.

Here is the lovely trunk lid after i got it back from the blaster. Couldnt locate one so I said screw it, lets see if i can fix it... Keep in mind I'm obvioulsy not a metal guy, hell I'm barely a painter, lol. But I have some tools and was able to get it to to a respectable place. I did learn that my HF shrinker/stretcher set is decent, my HF 30" break kinda blows, and the HF Bauer metal sheers is a decent tool for the price.

Dont worry, the welds were all cleaned up nice before I did the bodywork! This was just test fitting it to make sure if didnt fit a cuda better than it did a charger after my "work" was complete.

The trim fit great, so I guess i got the curve in the panel correct.

After 2 rounds of superbuild and a round of regular 2k I was happy with it.
