Need help with rust repair

J

Joe's Notchback

What is the best way to repair lower section of firewall that meets floor pan. The curve part going up the hump is my biggest concern in recreating.

You may want to start with a template of some sort, paper, or tape, whatever you can use, it's really hard to see what section you are referring to in the little pic.

Joe, looks like your picture is upside-down. Get some craft paper like Chad suggested and push it into the area needing replacement. If you need to make a slice for it to lay in there flat, that area needs stretching. If you have excess paper that folds over itself, that area needs shrinking..

I'll get another picture to night with more detail. Not sure how the picture upload upside down. Will try that again.

Joe, have you checked to see if any patch panels are available for your Notchback?

I would do as suggested, go ahead and make a paper template and start cutting a patch, If shrinking and stretching is past your abilities at the moment you may have to use those areas as a weld point. It just depends on how detailed you are needing to get.

Here is some of the work I've been working on shaping it to match the the piece I cut out.
This is a learning experience for me. Never done this metal work.

My first try at metal shaping and I think it came out well and fits too!
