Need advice

The interior portion of the doors on my wifes 67 Mustang need paint. They are in good shape but need a facelift. Was just going to spray bomb it as it’s a small job and I’m not really setup for any other way right now. Suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mitch.

If it has the original paint on it, I think they used Lacquer without primer. I used thinner to remove it, W&G remover, and spraybomb to replace it---quick and easy.

Looks original to me, so you could wipe it with lacquer thinner and see if it comes off. After the paint is removed, I would use evaporust (Tractor Supply) on it to get the surface rust off. Its non acidic, rinses off easily, and won't etch your door grain. I wouldn't use sand paper on it.

Others may have a better way

I’m not 100% sure that’s surface rust. The surface feels pretty smooth. Im wondering if that’s the Factory primer showing through and also probably some dirt/ grime. Passenger side looks similar but not as large of an area.

Also, Am planning on naval jelly if it’s rust. And scotchbrite pads on the grain. Light dust coats of paint when spraying.

So i tried rubbing it down with a rag soaked in lacquer thinner. No real progress. That paint is rock hard. Will keep at it.
