I sprayed a vehicle today and all went well except the hood, The hood looks to have a gang of rough texture that you can really feel with 2 patches more concentrated. It does not look like dirt nibs, Could be water contamination? What procedure should I use, wet sand 800 and re coat clear? I am using Universal 4000 clear

I don't have the knowledge to help you, but I would suggest you post a picture of your problem area so the fella's can help you resolve your problem faster. Good luck and i hope the next spray session gives you the results you want!!

Several things, maybe you were too close, overlap was too much, or fluid was open too much. Difficult to know exactly without being there. I'd resand and reclear.

Hard to tell exactly from just the pic, but looks like solvent pop or you had some water in the air line. Could be solvent pop from water in the line. Hard to tell. Not a lot water but enough to do that. More likely what Elwood said, you simply applied too much and it popped. Sand and re-clear. It may not all come out without going into your base. If that's the case don't oversand that one area trying to get it out. Sand the panel evenly and if you still have pinholes from the solvent pop use a little glaze to fill them, dust on some epoxy or urethane primer in that area. Then wet sand with 600, apply base to that area and then re-clear.

Talked with Barry today, I bought a new CH 27 cfm at 90 psi compressor June 25th. I used the compressor 12 hrs and the head gasket started leaking oil and the compressor runs at 3600 rpm and puts out loads of water. I have 4 5 ft 3/4 copper water traps with valves on the wall behind the compressor, The first drop is 35 ft away and has a sharpe water trap and a desiccant filter before the line. Barry told me that it is probably oil bypassing in the compressor and going through my lines. I took the compressor back to Lowes this evening and got my 1700.00 back, I am now looking at a polar air compressor, 31 cfm at 100 psi,, 7.5 hp and a 5 year warranty. I have to get this problem taken care of before any more paint jobs are done here . Thanks so much guys you truly are a great help to me.
