I am interested in a 1974 Duster that has no motor or Transmission, There is rust in rear quarters but everything else looks good. I can buy the roller for $2500.00, What do you guys think? I am no pro at pricing vehicles and you guys are my go to, Thanks for all your help.

JC, If we could somehow stuff Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, and the rest of those lying scumbag Rats in the first car and push it off a West Virginia mountainside, I'd buy you the second car JC.

Sorry......I've been watching too much of the "Impeachment" trial. Arghh.

My '74 Valiant. Love this car. Not worth anything but gets a lot of attention just because of uniqueness.

Unless it is a car that has some sort of sentimental value or something you just gotta have, it is best to look at restored value.
I battled with buying a '68 Plymouth GTX or a '66 Pontiac GTO last time around. Would cost nearly the same to restore them but the GTX had a higher value when finished so I went that route.

Dream of one day getting my hands on a '71 Cuda but that is at least 5 pay grades above where I live. LOL

Fixing and flipping cars is a tough road imho. Better to line up customer jobs imho. At least that is my experience. Be sure to charge time and materials and not fixed bids on restoration work.

Everyone thinks their junk is worth way more than it is. I looked at a "barn find" 64 Corvette convertible L75 in North Carolina that was on Facebook marketplace that some flipper acquired recently. In the pics car looked decent. He represented it as in very good condition. Wouldn't tell me a price over the phone, only said it was well below market value. That should have been the end of it there, but it was only 45 minutes away so I got guy that is looking for one for me to do, and we went there. Car turned out to be a total basket case. Wrong motor and transmission, stress cracks throughout the fiberglass, everything would need to be replaced or restored. Since my guy wants a restomod we figure maybe we can get this fairly cheap. Nope, guy was asking 35K!!!!! for it. Unreal. We said good luck and left. Turns out a friend knows of the car and what this guy paid for it. Poor old woman was going into a nursing home. Car had been her deceased Husband's. It had been sitting on the farm for years, he gave $5500 for it.
This isn't the first time I've looked at a raggedy old Vette and the Owner thinks the thing is gold. Why is that?

That is not too far off market value for a C2 imho. They are hot right now, saw some huge money paid for restomods recently. He basically stole the car from her but at the end of the day that doesn’t affect the price he will get for it. C2 Corvettes are baller cars, stay away if you’re not a baller... :>)

Going by Hagerty's the car I looked at, if it was in #4 condition is only worth $26k. (it was not) Their description of a #4 car is a daily driver with flaws visible to the naked eye. This one was not a #4 car. Not running, wrong motor, trashed interior, etc etc. L75 (327-300)

According to Hagerty's, #1 Concours quality $77,300, #2 Excellent $59,300, #3 Good $39,800, #4 Fair $26,100. And over the last 3 years the price has trended down approximately $5k.
To me it was at most a 15K car.

I can't see how 35K for a basket case is close to market value. Possibly he would have come down some but I threw the 15k out there to him and he just laughed insultingly. I think his bottom number was around 30K. This car was a basket case though. Obviously big block cars are a different story but this was a run of the mill 327/300 with a replacement 350 engine from a truck.

Found a couple of wrecked ones on Copart. We are gonna bid on those and see what happens. My guy really wants one and I want to find him one cause it will be a good paying job for me:)

Well to each his own opinion. Sounds like your client just needs to buy a BJ car and do a few tweaks. :>) I see them selling for that sort of money. Without seeing the car I was around $30k. To be honest worrying about a few thousand on a restomod build that will stretch well into six figures doesn't make a lot of sense. As far as condition goes hardly any of it will be reused anyway in a restomod build.

Not looking to getting into an argument, just stating my observations and opinion.

Cheers,
Don

car will bring between 25k-30k if it has a clear title . the hard top is worth 5k . i see some serious rust on the bumper. if the frame is gone then the price plummets . if it was a 65 it would be a little cheaper . corvettes are sought after cars and will always bring top money . it is true you can buy one for half the cost to build but with corvette people it is the hunt and the kill .
