Need a color code

Trying to be the best me, I can be
I'm trying to find the paint code for a 2014 Lamborghini color. Blu Nethuns, also seen it as Blu Nethus. It is supposed to be the same as Lamborghini Monterrey Blue/ Blu Caelum which is from 1998. I have the code for that. (PPG 904004) Problem is that color doesn't look the same to me. My PPG software doesn't give me any info on this color as it is not a common color Lamborghini does. (3 stage candy) Anyone point me in the direction of finding out the paint code. Does anyone's Paint software list this color? Thanks

PPG *0031 Bl

Thanks for the reply. Just to let you know 0031 is the Lambo code it is not a PPG number. I've yet to find the PPG code for it even though PPG is Lambo's paint supplier. PPG rep said he couldn't find it either. I ended up modifying the 1988 Lambo formula I had. Worked out OK. Thanks again.

Thanks. Again I don't need the Lambo code. I needed a Manufacturers (PPG BASF Sikkens) number to try and cross reference it. Blu Caelum is the 1998 color.
Internet reference sites are decently reliable for the OEM color code but very inaccurate as far s I can tell when they list a Paint Manufacturers number.
No biggie, I modified the 1998 formula and got the job done. Thanks again.

My buddy painted a mustang this color. He told me the code he used to reference the color was PPG 0031

Lol Crash.:) Thanks for the replies guys. let me state again 0031 is the Lamborghini code. It is not the PPG number. That is not correct. AFAIK there is no formula for it in DBC. There is one in Envirobase but I don't spray that. We have switched to Axalta and my software shows a formula for 0031 in Chromapremier. Anyone wants the number I'll provide it. But don't believe everything you read on the Internet. Everyone keeps repeating 0031 as the PPG code. If you know PPG numbers you know immediately that is not a correct format for a DBC PPG number. Don'rt knw where that pic came from but it is not something from PPG. 0031 is the Lambo code for 2018 Blue Nethus/Blu Monterrey. LY5Q is the 1998 Lamborghini code. The PPG number for the 1998 Monterrey Blue is 904004. It is a 3 stage and you can get that in DBC.
Lots of misinformation on that PaintReference site. Don't trust it. Verify the color through a Jobber before you buy your paint. It's really hit or miss there.

Just an FYI for anyone that finds this through a google search. I have received about a dozen PM's over the last couple of years about the color. All the info I have is in post #10. I no longer work at the Shop where I mixed the color. I no longer have access to the PPG Color Library. I can't give you anymore info other than what is in post #10. So please don't PM me for info on this as I have none.

Hi, I registered an account here just to share what info I have about this colour, for the sake of future Googlers.

It's my favourite car colour in the world. I wanted it many years ago for a custom build and it took weeks for me to dig out the necessary info. I hope this information will be useful to some of you.

The colour is called Lamborghini Monterey Blu or Blu Nethus (same thing). It was a special colour specifically commissioned by the Monterey Lambo dealership in the 90s (along with a beautiful candy red colour whose name escapes me).

The base coat is a light lilac metallic colour. Here is the photo my paint shop took when testing:

basecoat.jpg

It is then topped with a translucent dark blue clear coat, creating a gorgeous candy effect. Like all candy paints, it requires a proficient and even painter, and is near impossible to touch-up if damaged.

The colour code is PPG 0031, but this is a Lambo code, and doesn't help anyone. However, I tracked down one PPG shop who had the base formula in their database, and well, here is the golden ticket (I have NEVER seen this info online anywhere!):

The system in use is PPG Deltron. Numbers given are relative proportions.

BASE COAT
D953 > 859.9
D981 > 66.9
D759 > 28.7

COLOURED CLEAR COAT
D895 > 744.7
D776 > 74.3
D754 > 46.4
D741 > 44.6
D759 > 18.6

With the above, anyone with the PPG base paints should be able to mix the colour for you.

Good luck!

In my post above I listed the PPG number that I used. The PPG number for 1998 Blu Nethus/Monterey blue is 904004. Three stage available in DBC. More than likely the formula listed above. I can't remember formulas.:) Only thing that might confuse the jobber is that the toners all start with "DMD" not D.
