Mustang Foxbody Repop fenders...

Any foxbody guys in here? I am redoing a 90LX and I need both fenders. The market prices for OE fenders is a bit ridiculous. I am just curious if anyone has used any of the Reproduction pieces and how they fit..

Look for Capa Certified parts. If you source them from someplace like Keystone-LKQ and NOT from ebay amazon etc, the quality and fit is decent.

I've never used aftermarket for my Foxes. I did need to remove a fender from one of my other cars to use on the Mustang in my Avatar because it fit better then one I got off a 4 cylinder car.

87-90 fenders are different from 91-93. V8 fenders are different from 4 cylinder fenders. When they switched to 16" wheels for the 91 LX 5.0 and GT models, the lower front edge of the fender was trimmed/shortened to keep the wheel from touching.
I cut my teeth on those cars. First car I ever clipped was an almost new 91 oxford white GT with 5000 miles on it that I bought for myself at a salvage auction.. That was in early 92. We never called them Fox bodies back then. They were just 5.0's. Those cars were a lot of fun. All told I owned a 91 and a 92 both GT's both were Insurance Salvage. Kept both for about a year and still made 5000 on each one. Then I bought a new never titled 93 LX 5.0 Notch and kept that for about a year and a half. WOuld love to have any of those cars now. Brings back memories.:)

Same, I've had a slew of them over the years. Got out of cars once the kids arrived though. I'm more of a 4 eyed guy though. 85-86 were my favorite years.

Although my wife currently has a 91 red coupe(red/black interior) on her ring finger........damn I miss that car. 19K miles.........tfs heads, gt40 intake, ecam, super powershot nitrous setup and a bunch of other mods.....tons of fun!

Ended up running up to NPD yesterday and picked up some repops, just going to section in what I need and at least that way I keep the original fenders with the VIN tags. The more I thought about it I feel thats the best way to go on this one. The car is too original to put repops on IMO.

Definitely helps having all the parts on roll-able racks. Otherwise this wouldn't have been possible. These $100 astro racks have paid for themselves over the years.

Dont mind the peal on the quarter panel. On completes like this I always go back and wet out the jambs last and SPI clears dont seem to like to melt in. There is a very tight window, but I plan on sanding and buffing anyways so it doesnt matter to me.

Thats it for now. Cut and buff this week and ill reassemble it and get the rest of the parts painted. Sadly the owner passed away about a month ago. I knew this one was a race against time, but I didnt expect him to go that fast. Cancer is a motherfucker..

Worst parts about this car was the factory road guard and someone had the car undercoated...what a mess..

Nice job. What's your procedure for welding the thin metal patch sections? Never seem to be able to get it looking nice. Are you going to respray the black around the tops of doors Etc?

I just tig welded the sections in. And yes the doors and trim will be satin black just like factory. Ill do that after the doors are all hung and Ill reshoot all of the window trim. The body side moldings are all body color now as you can see in the pics. It was something that the owner and I discussed doing in the very beginning.

Do you have a code for the black that is close to factory finish? Doing a 93 calypso notch and was debating what paint to use for the black around doors ?

As far as welding procedure. I am definitely not the guy to give advice on that! I just cut the sections as clean as I can with no gaps when tig welding. If I have a hole or anything I'll typically bust out the mig to fill a hole. I havent had alot of luck trying to fill gaps when tig welding thin metal. Some guys are bad asses at it,,,,I am not!

On this car though Ill probably just use either my SPI matte black or I have this

I have both on the shelf at home. I like the SEM stuff, but I always like to use a 2 part when possible just for durability. Its purely a preference IMO.
