Motorcycle Tank Lip Seal

Looking for something to seal the lip of the filler hole on a motorcycle gas tank. A common failure for custom motorcycle paint jobs is around the filler hole. Gas vapors get under the clear coat and bubble the paint. I would like to prevent this problem. There were a couple of sites selling a product specifically for this. But they have both discontinued the product. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

yes the proper thing for it is novalac epoxy. at one point it was packaged in small single application squeeze tubes specifically for this purpose. product was actually called "lip seal". now you can get it from caswell.com. its sold as their fuel tank sealer. unfortunately the smallest kit will do about 150 fuel tank filler holes lol. dont confuse this with regular epoxy from the store or even epoxy primer. definately not the same thing. novalac epoxy is a special product for use with contact of extremely harsh chemicals.

It's too bad those "lip seal" tubes aren't around anymore, it was a good idea to package it that way even though it cost more. I think I recall the tube kits were about $10, peanuts compared to a redo.
The problem with having it in the cans from Caswell is shelf life. The stuff I bough roughly 5 years ago (Caswell tank sealer) continually got thicker to the point of being unusable.

yes if its only for one application then a whole sealer kit is alot. you need to find other uses for it. it will work as glue or just about anything you would need epoxy for.
