I got top and sail panels on my 65 mustang sanded to bare metal with 80 grit. I took some of these guys advice wash it in dawn detergent wiped and let dry and use grease and wax removal and let dry. I was only able to spray one coat of epoxy because it dark. My question is I have about 1/4 cup of spi white epoxy left but need to make more. Can I mix the epoxy mixed yesterday afternoon with a new batch after 30 minute induction time. I need to put at least one more coat of epoxy on to have two coats.

Should be fine, as long as not skinned over or set up in any way. It will probably look kind of separated, but it will mix back up and can be added to your new mix.

I would mix your new batch in the correct amounts, stir it good, then add the old to the new and mix good again, let it sit for your induction like that. That is what I always did.

I have always let the new batch induce before I added the old to it. I am not sure that matters but just made sense to me.

BTW, Barry has said the new pot life is the same as the new batch so this gives you a longer window to use up the old. It is good to have a way of using up the old epoxy without having to let it turn into a hocky puck.

Amazing stuff!

Yeah, it's important to cover it. Page 11 of the Tech Manual says the potlife of mixed epoxy is 72-120 hours depending on conditions. I tend to use the low side of that as my maximum, especially since it's rare that I mix way too much.

I had a call yesterday from someone that
Put his mixed epoxy in the fridge overnight
And wanted to know it thickened if he could add reducer and spray it.

My answer was no, let epoxy get to room temp, then spray it and never put any activated product in the fridge.
Also, I said the only reason was chancing using this is because he has a couple of small pieces to do.

I never that of that to get lid lids that I will do when I have some left over

If you have no lids, saran wrap and a rubber band or two works well. I also will use plastic masking sheeting sometimes and tape the perimeter of the cup. Seems to work fine. I don't ever have any lids so that is what I do.

Thanks guys, Barry I need a recommendation for Spi primer after I finish sanding the car on top of epoxy. I only have a 1.3 tip gun until I can get a better one. Which primer is recommended that will spray with this tip size.
