Nice deuce. I’ve had a handful over the years. They’re nice bikes. A lot of deuce only parts. Sets them apart. I like the pearl white on that one. I picked up a road glide, street glide, and a fatboy in the past 2 weeks. I must be really crazy!! lol

i think i have a set or 2 of tins laying around for a deuce that ill never paint. ill have to dig around the shop attic.

I’d be interested in any Harley parts you have Jim. Not just deuce parts either. Pretty much anything. But if shine wanted a set of tins I wouldnt step on his toes. Also, you still using sealer for 2k? Working good for you? Thanks!

I do have a bunch of tins for sure that i will never do anything with. When i get a chance ill dig around to see what i have. Some sets might be complete and others just individual body parts. Ill let you know

the deal on the black bike did not work out so i bought this one. never owned a white bike before. kinda growing on me. like new '04 with only 7500 miles on it. even has the original tires on it. i sold my last bike in 1979 and never got around to replacing it. after the health things in the last 10 years i figure it's now or never.
first fuel injected bike i ever owned.

From JD Powers:

Are My Tires Too Old?

As we already mentioned, tires will oxidize as they age. In this process, oxygen from the air reacts with chemicals in the rubber, which causes them to harden. Eventually, they become brittle, and cracks and other damage can occur.

Oxidation in motorcycles usually is slow. However, it can be accelerated by heat and sunlight. Concrete can also leech moisture from the tires, further accelerating drying and cracking. For this reason, it is best to park in a cool place to extend your tire life. It is also wise to move your motorcycle regularly. Leave it in place for too long, and flat spots can appear.

As you can imagine, there’s some variation in how long it takes tires to age. That said, the rule of thumb is to replace your motorcycle tires after five years, even if they appear to be in good condition.

If you don’t know how old your tires are, it is relatively easy to find out. First, there will be the letters “DOT” followed by a series of numbers on the tire’s sidewall. Once you have located these numbers, look at the last four digits. The first two digits signify the week the tire was manufactured, and the last two digits represent the year.

For example, imagine a tire with the last four digits, “1620”. In this instance, the tire was manufactured in the 16th week of 2020, or essentially, around the end of April.

Who has motorcycle tires that last 5 years? I wear mine out way before then.
Last time, it wore out before I got all the way home. Of course it was a 7000+ mile ride.

was it balanced ? that wear indicates out of balance. just ordered a set of tires for mine.

and for the record i am not a moron. i've been building for 50 years and know how to read a DOT number.

The tires had beads for balancing. This picture is what it looked like after going soft at 65 mph, then being limped down the side of the road for about 2 miles to an exit ramp.
The rubber protected the rim at the beginning but began to give out and flop side to side about 1/2 way up the exit ramp. That's when I parked until help could arrive so I wouldn't hurt the wheel.

I can absolutely feel/see the difference in aging rubber..For cars, i was told or suggested 7yrs max depending on conditions listed by Dean..My mostly summer only tires, get hard, noisy, and loose traction with age on my 4 Cyl turbo moderately tuned car...Go to the shop and touch/feel a brand new tire of the same that which you have
