I bet that title get this banned.
Have any of you had total knee replacement and was able to keep at it? I'm due for one maybe a deuce.
Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks,
Kent

In '07 I had both my meniscus (not both at the same time) repaired and not a replacement, in retrospect it wasn't too bad.
The PT was tough though until I was part way through it. I was 56 at the time.
I can't stress enough the importance of the PT. I know a woman that blew off the home portion of PT and years later she can hardly get around.
My suggestion would be to get it done sooner than later.

Sorry I wasn't much help and the BOL, Kenny

Nice! That's kind of what I was hoping for. How long after surgery did it take to get back at it?

I was back out in the shop doing oil changes after a couple of weeks, but it took about a month and 1/2 before i went full time.I run my own shop so its hard to take a lot of time off.The one thing I did was get a stationary bike and ride that every day,the more you keep your knee moving the better off you will recover,Its a long road you have to keep exercising your knee well after therapy ends!

I'm 57. Bone on bone in both. My daughter is a PTA and sometimes a PITA. She'll keep me humping on the PT. My wife will be just as tough on me.
there are people that are getting a new gel injected in place instead of surgery.

I had a tear 25 years ago, the surgeon I went to sounded like a butcher, saying they just cut away the tear and muscle will not grow back to that is all they did. I guess cutting around it makes you have to start a new tear before its completely gone.

This I hear a lot and hear three months, so from what I hear, the key is to get the doc that has done the most.
My bowing partner he did his homework and found the best doc.
The drawback is had an operation in the morning, and that evening, a therapist came to work him over and then said, see you in the morning.
In 30 days, he was 90% perfect.
Doc said when he complained, said you would thank me in a month.
He did.

Thanks for the insight. I've had the gel shots and it lasted about a month. I have a really nice stationary bike that I ride in the mornings to loosen it up. I have a tablet attached, so I could ride distracted.

My brother-in -law just had both done at the same time! Lot of pain at first but out cutting lawn after 2 weeks. Like some say very slow recovery but worth it. He is 60 years old. Good luck and do your homework about the doc.

My dad is 82 years old and had both knees totally replaced in 2005 and works every day in the garden and yard, 2 Uncles have both replaced and my Mother had one replaced and they all work every day. Good luck.
