M60 Motorguard

motoguards are made more for the final particles of oil and water not a mass water filter. There is no drain on the thing. Having enough water in there to corrode is pointing to not enough being done before this final filter.

My plan was to put it after the desiccant dryer. I wanted it mainly to catch any wayward silica particles that might make it out. Is it overkill for that?

As a hobbyist, over the last couple of years, I have used my compressor some days alot and some days not so much. I always just remove the filter and let it dry as I'm shutting down the compressor and draining what water has collected in the tank. This has worked well so far. The canister still looks new. If I was using it more then I think I would just keep an extra filter around. Where I live (VA) there is just a few months in the summer that I get alot of moisture. I still think the M60 is one heck of a filter, but I haven't really had any experiences with any others filters on the market.

Particles is what they are designed for, not a dripping wet corroding volume of water.
As far as garbage powder coat, yeah, the cheapest powders they use are all epoxy. It is the cheapest stuff you can buy and the cheapest to use. Prices double when getting to the polyurethane powders.
