Lph 400 1.4

Been away for awhile but am back and healthy. Working on my 01 F350 Super Duty diesel dually. I received a lot of valuable help from this site on my previous project, a 69 Porsche 911 restoration.

I had a brand new 400 that I used for base/clear on that car. Times were tough and I had to sell it, thru this sites classifieds. Hopefully it still giving its owner no problems.

I am looking at buying a new lph400 1.4. Being in Canada with our low dollar it makes the price out of reach for the sites I have found, with the only exception being e-bay.
There are multiple listing from japan that would save me 2-300 dollars.

I remember reading about counterfeit Sata's. Has there ever been any talk of the iwatas being fake?

And I guess I should confirm that this is the best gun for me. I am a slower painter. Will be spraying SPI SS black and black epoxy. I already have a vaper 1.8 for the 2k.

Thanks for your help once again everyone

I bought mine off ebay. It was before I saw the Sata thread on here and ever since I have always wondered in the back of my mind if maybe my LPH400 was a fake like the Satas were. I dont think its a fake, but Im very inexperienced in the painting profession so I honestly might not be able to tell if its a fake. You can tell when something is junk and mine is not, so if its a fake it is a good one. The only thing I can compare to are my 2.2 Vaper, and a Warwick 904HE. When compared to those two the LPH I have is light years ahead, which it should be.

The item number I bought is here: 171407601226

Generally on Ebay if a buyer has good buyer feedback (99.0% and above) and a significant amount of feedback they are going to be trustworthy. Always use Paypal because if you do get something like a fake gun you are protected. Using Paypal on Ebay pretty much takes the risk out of it because Paypal will almost always side with the purchaser in a dispute.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will bite the bullet and order one.

I had the same thought when I bought an lph100 mini gun out of Japan on ebay. As best I can tell it is genuine.

If you are overly concerned, maybe Amazon is a good source. I bought an LPH400 1.4 for $359 without cup and bought 600 and 900 ml cups off Ebay for $35 each.

I'm in Canada and it seems that we can only buy from amazon.ca.There the guns range from 7-900. I looked at several on the main site in the 350 area and none could be delivered here. Must be some licensing agreement, I ordered one from e-bay for 337, should be here within a week

Sounds like a good deal. Best of luck with it.

If the Iwata comes from Japan it probably is ok. If it comes from China I doubt it's ok.

I agree with Chris. I bought my Iwata LPH400 silver cap used on eBay for $200 a number of years ago. Gave it a real thorough cleaning and it has served me fine. Just take a close look at the seller's feedback before deciding who to buy from.

seller has a feedback of 99.2. Not alot of sales though. Only at 136 currently. His negative feedback was from someone who he shipped to the guys residential address and not his business. Personnally I think this one was the buyers mistake. Checked my tracking info and it is already in Toronto at customs. Couple more days and it should be here. I have my epoxy and ss black sitting on the bench

I think you will really like the gun. It has a soft spray so less cloud and better transfer rate. However the fan size is smaller, you need to stay in the 4-6" range from the panel (takes some getting used to) and use a slightly slower rate of motion when spraying.

I got mine at a pawn shop for about $300 in the box with all three air caps and alum cup.

Thanks for that. I had the exact gun about 6 years ago. Sold it to mule about 6 tears ago. Bought this one without a cup so I am debating if I should buy one of the disposable liner cups.

Pawn shops are worth looking at. I've purchased all of my big SATA's and an LPH300 from pawns. A lot of other fun stuff too.

Showed up today, quality looking gun. Compared to my devilbiss and vaper there is a huge difference. I don't remember a hologram on my old lph. Is this something new? Its on the handle, left side

Yes newer Iwatas have it, doesn’t last long though with the continuous gun cleaning.
