Looking for United States retailer who sells Devilbiss FLG-5 gravity feed spray guns

I'm looking to purchase two Devilbiss FLG-5 spray guns, One will be 1.4 and the other 1.8. The only place I can find them is in the UK. If I have to buy them in the UK I will so I know that I'm getting a "real" Devilbiss gun, and not a knock off.

If you know of a paint jobber in the states who sells this brand of Devilbiss, I would be greatful.

Thank you,

Chris,

I was afraid of that but, thank you for your honesty. I've search high and low on the internet with no luck for a US supplier.

My next step is to see if I can get replacements parts for it before ordering. If I can't, I'll have to find other guns

Thanks again,
Mike

Curious how you settled on wanting that gun. I have been less than impressed with my Devilbiss guns compared to Iwata and Sata.

Had a FLG-5 for a while and ended up giving it to a helper for primer. The Tekna Pro Lite is the most versatile gun I own. Works really good epoxy to clear. If I only had 1 gun, it would definitely be the Tekna for me.

I have a prolite and an FLG5, both do an amazingly good job. The prolite - to me at least - is as good as it gets, and for the money the FLG5 is amazing. I bought mine from spraygunsdirect in the UK. They don't sell knockoffs and their customer service was great, how about the UK to West coast USA in 3 days.
They aren't some chinese based ebay seller!

A few reasons, Don

1) It's been 30 years since I've done any vehicle painting. I still have my vintage Binks and Sharpe suction guns. Pretty out dated and parts aren't available anymore, so it's time to buy some newer updated guns.

2) Budget, I allowed myself $2.500 dollars to set myself up again. I purchased a new air compressor, regulators and hard pipe air lines. That cost about $2,000 dollars. I have $500 left to purchase two guns.

I have looked at the Starting and Finish line guns from Devilbiss because they fall in my price range at the moment. Next year I can spend the money and purchase a $500-$600 dollar gun, whatever that gun is. I've read reviews and watched a few videos of the Starting / Finish lines guns, which for the beginner seem okay. I just have a feeling they are not up to what I'm expecting out of a cheaply priced gun.
The Devillbiss FLG-5 is priced at $135 dollars has very good reviews from real world experienced shop painters. Granted, they know this is not a high dollar gun, but in their opinion, it is without a doubt a gun that can compete with $500-$600 dollar guns. As always, I'm open to suggestions on budget minded guns. As stated earlier, I'm looking for a 1.4 and 1.8 gun.

Here are a few videos of the FLG-5 in action.

Are you planning to shoot any polyester primer? You’ll need something with a bigger nozzle if you are. I also found 1.8 a little small for SPI high build primer.

Good advice above to go cheap on the primer gun and buy an Iwata LPH400.

I agree, a 2.0 and up is the way to go.

The popular Vaper is a 2.3. I have a TCP Global 2.0, I think they have like a 2.4 too. I personally found the overall construction between the Vaper and TCP guns to be more or less the same. The TCP comes with a pretty decent cup though, and it works on the LPH400 as a bonus.

$500 should buy you an Iwata LPH400 and a cheap Vaper or TCP Global primer gun, probably have enough left over for some odds and ends like a good on the gun regulator.

I used this combo with good success, it could be another option for you.

I'm looking at the TCP Global Model G6600. Is this the gun you're referring too?

Just watched and read some reviews of the Iwata LPH400. Impressive gun I must say.

Yes I plan in using all SPI products, including their epoxy primer and high build primer. Looking now to see if the Iwata LPH400 has a 1.4

I would be interested to know what clear Gunman uses in his videos. Be willing to bet it is not a very high solid, or he reduces it quite a bit.

I know it gets panned, but the 3m Accuspray is a good primer gun that you can get several tips for. It sprays base and clear fairly well too.

I bought a 25$ 2.5 primer gun off ebay and it has done me a great job, You can also look at the Iwata W400 as an option. I have an lph 400 1.4 and it is a great gun.
