Lighting question.......yep another lighting thread..

So the annual time has come to slop another fresh coat of paint on the walls and frankly im tired of the wall lights. Do you think they have any real benefit? I was thinking of moving them all to the corner of the wall/ceiling area. They just collect a lot of dust and overspray directly on the walls. Any thoughts on this? I'd keep the top ones where they are at and just move the wall ones to the red area and then maybe one vertical one in all 4 corners... If i do keep the lights on the wall I need to come up with a better setup so they dont trap so much dust and overspray.

That's kind of what I figured, guess I just needed to hear it! When I originally set the garage up I was going to build boxes in the walls, just got lazy and didnt.

my lights are in the booth . not too big of a job to clean . i have a 4ft in each corner now. it's 20 years old now . much briter than it looks . now has led .

I installed angled lights in an effort to get both top and side coverage.

That didn't work as well as I thought it would so I added the lights on the side walls. I am still not happy with it because there are certain areas on the vehicles that seem to be in shadow spots.

I am seriously considering adding some overhead lights, lights at the front of the booth above the filter bank and 8' vertical lights in the rear corners of the both on each side of the garage door.

They are all frosted LED daylight bulbs. I tried the clear ones at first but I kept seeing spots everywhere because of the LED being exposed.

Personally, I like everything very well lit when I am painting.

Ya I've always had wall lights. I guess I just want to figure out a way to keep them cleaner.

I mean I have a million lights. I was just looking at them recently and they are covered in over spray. Just need to do something. I paint most nights so juggling around lights would be kind of a pain. I just wanna hit a switch!

Check these out. Now I am not going to buy them, but they seem pretty nice.
Looks very similar to what I have in my ceiling, which is a suspended grid with acoustic tiles like an office. The lights drop into the frame.
They are awesome!
I've thought about mounting them on the walls as well.
Here is how they look, just in the ceiling:

A couple in the walls would rock for painting!

I retired from a company after 34 years that had 3 powered coat lines which had 2 booths per line in one building. We used Binks clear spray envelope on the light fixtures. Stuff worked great. They had been using envelope spray in one form or another since the early 70's on lighting and the booth walls when they were running turbo bells.

Forgot to mention that the envelope was used on explosion proof fixtures not the bulb style. Signify makes some similar flush mount Day-Brite CFI flat panel led back lights that are 12"x48", Some are adjustable output 4000k - 6000k Lum. I was thinking of getting a few. Could install them between 16" OC wall studs.
