Leathery Look

Hey Guys,
I am the new guy to the forum and this is my first time posting. I have a tail gate that I painted last week that looked good when I left the booth however when I came back the next day it had a leathery look to it. This has happened to me quite a few times in the past. Can someone inform me to what is causing this? It was a new OEM gate and I used a red scotch brite on it then sealed it with a 2k sealer. Waited 30 minutes and based it with 25 to 30 minutes between coats then 2 coats of Euro clear 4:1:1 with 30 minutes between the first and second coat. I have attached a picture of the gate after it was wet sanded and buffed but you can see where the emblem goes. I did not sand and buff there. You can get an idea of what I am seeing all over.

Only two choices that cause this (only speaking of the SPI clear)
One is booth fan left on to long after last coat.
99 time out of 100 the real cause is trapped solvents in base, not bad here but Blacks and Dark blues and actually make the clear look line grapefruit peal the next day or two.

To pinpoint, if it took 2-4 days to show up, solvents trapped in first coat of base.
Next day second coat or clear applied to soon.

FYI, I used nason 2k sealer and chroma for base. Could it be possible that the cheaper nason sealer had anything to do with it as well?

No I say with 90% certainty, sealer trapped solvents seem to take a couple of weeks to work their way through.

Switch to SPI 2K sealers, or if you have some SPI epoxy use it as a sealer and see if it improves. While you're at it get some SPI reducer as well.

I've sprayed quite a bit of dark colors with flash times shorter than yours and even a week later the clear is looking very good.

I plan to start using SPI 2k sealer. I just wanted to use up the sealer that I already had. Also, a month or so ago I switch to PPG deltron and use SPI reducers with it, however this customer wanted me to use chroma this go round. PPG seems to cover better plus I dont have to buy the specific basemaker. That might have been some of the issue with this gate, it took 4 full coats of chroma to obtain full hiding.
