Is this a good plan ?

I'm slow and don't have a lot of time to work on my project. I have gotten to the point I have the panel pretty straight. I sprayed the epoxy a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I was getting it ready for some 2k. Used 180 on the durablocks. Theres a few spots that were high and I hammered them a bit. Same with a few low spots. The plan is to finish sanding the panel with the 180, wipe with W&G, shoot another coat of epoxy, then shoot 2k. Good plan or other suggestions ?

I would do any needed filler work between the epoxy and 2k assuming the areas that you hammered on need filler.

Shine, I see you recommend epoxy instead of 2k. Does one shrink more or less than the other? (epoxy vs 2k)

i have seen no shrinkage with epoxy. i just dont see the need to use 2k urethane sandwiched in between epoxy. just my personal method.

sorry old post, but im studying up.....SPI recommends epoxy , filler, epoxy, then 2k, then blocking. How can you skip the 2k step? Seems the 2k is your high build, right?

Some guys use epoxy as their high build.

There are three important points one should take note of. One: SPI epoxy. Two: This is a method that should be left to the experienced. Three: Don't get in a hurry.

With those three points in mind, that panel doesn't appear to need much more material. Another coat or two of epoxy may do it, depending on the hammer work. As was mentioned, do the filler before 2k, if your're going that route.

Remember epoxy requires temp above 60-65 degf for 24 hours. That's a problem at a lot of shops that kill the heat when they leave. I used to not spray much epoxy during the winter but Barry told me I could bake it for an hour so I use it year round now. I'm fortunate enough to have baking booths.

I use the "one day vs. one hour rule", that's what I call it anyway.
I have found that epoxy sands about the same at one day cure time (at warm temps)
as about 1 hour under the short wave lamp.
I think it sands really better after two days so I usually leave the lamp
on it for two hours, I can even dry sand it easily after that.

I warmed garage up to 80 degrees before and after spraying. It dipped to 60 degrees at one point, but it was a few days after spraying.
