Intercoat used as a base coat?

Currently I use the intercoat as suggested (1:1) and it sprays and lays wonderful.

I was planning on mixing up some pure white and jet black as a base coat since I have so much of the intercoat.

Can I do this?

Should I do this?

Once again all thoughts on the question are welcome.

Yes, if its a good base color or tint, no Omni, Nason, Dupont or S&W or other similar types. and keep in 15-20% range for safety.

You can mix the basecoat with the intercoat if that's what you're asking.

Thanks for the replies all.

I mix my own colors using pigments, micas and pearls. Oh My (.......... Sorry couldn't help it.)

I have a "Titanium White" pigment and a "Jet Carbon Black" pigment that should give me the whitest white and the blackest black I can can get.

Barry, when you say 15 to 20% do you mean amount of pigment vs the amount of intercoat? I normaly try to keep my ratios about 25Grams of Powder per Quart of sprayable material.

Thanks again

Yes 20% of unreduced volume.

That black is not going to be the black black you think, it will be grey black, no if or buts.

Barry,

Do you make a deep black base coat?

If not do you have any suggestions?

Thanks
