Ideas on the darkest OEM red.

The Rangoon was voted 3rd choice of all of the reds, almost thought about bringing that color out also and may in a year from now but right now does not fit in my plans.

My reds are not like the cheap crap out there and will go head to head with any $800 to 1400 gallon of red and win in quality and first coat coverage.
I'm still embarrassed to say I have my reds priced way higher then need be ($300 gallon) but the point was, I did not want anyone to compare my paint to an Omni, Nason or other lower end bases, to keep the RIF-RAF from buying my product due to price only.

I plan on being the red KING ( in restoration and street rods) so if I add these colors, prices will be same as now but you will see specials like never before in this industry, on and off with the reds only.
I'm picking the colors to cover as many reds with in a shade from 50's -70's as possible.

Really hope you don't plan to retire anytime soon Barry. I'm so glad I found out about SPI. Just outstanding products. Thanks for caring about quality.

+2

Although I stumbled upon SPI more than 10 years ago, which makes me wonder...

Isn't SPI's 20th anniversary getting pretty close? I hope you'll come out with more great products to celebrate =)

Inc date was 1998 i think but we were doing bedliners in 93 or 94, so all how you look at it, i guess.

Any updates on the dark red? I have a project that is getting close to base coat and the dark red has peaked my interest. Thanks!

Troy.

Yes having an issue, I will not do this unless i can assure there will be no color change in batches, the two i picked right now I cannot assurre that because of all the colors involved making each of those colors.
I have turned to the pigment experts (manufacturers) to see if they can help.

Update, tested a lot of colors and tossed out my idea of darkest red, well not tossed it but thought about what would really compliment the line and also be high volume.

As of an hour ago we are 90% set to add two colors/.

Candy Apple red
Garnet red WA3921

Next test is if I can make and never have a variance from batch to batch.
Could all fall in line in next 30 days.
Hi Barry.
I acquired a new project car last month and it's a '69 GTO Convertible. It's originally a Liberty Blue car but I'm liking the idea of painting it with your dark red.
Paint code WA3921 was an original option for '69 GTOs but Pontiac called it Matador Red wheras Chevy called it Garnet Red.
Is the Dark Red paint you carry now pretty close to WA3921? Sure looks like it in photos I've seen of both.
Thanks,
Roger
