Weirdly enough my, 1988 nissan 200sx, which came factory with single stage has no problems with a quick lacquer solvent test on the exterior, but in areas under the hood and under where the trim goes, the paint gets gummy from solvent. The car is just a driver, and all the spots where the old paint gums up is under rubber seal/ gasket. Is there a way for me to spray 2k epoxy over these transition areas? The exterior is stripped to bare metal but i ended the stripping when i reached a place that would be sealed by trim.

Yes you can spray epoxy over those areas if they are properly scuffed. Try to avoid hammering on the first coat.

There is also some seam sealer on some of thoses areas, I would assume 1k also. Would bad things happen if I was to scuff and shoot over?
