How much epoxy sealer is needed

Stang Guy

Hi Everyone,

I am just a couple of weeks away from getting my 68 Mustang painted. I have applied epoxy and then 2k primer. blocked, reprimed, blocked more, etc. Approximately how much epoxy sealer will I need to do the exterior of a Mustang? Will 2 quarts total be enough(1 quart epoxy, 1 quart activator, and reducer)? Or will I need more than that?

Thanks!

Your own setup and spray style will have a lot to do with how much material gets consumed, but for myself I would estimate a little over a quart and a half to get one coat of sealer around a car that size. We always track how much material gets sprayed per coat when doing individual panels, which makes later calculations easier, but even after all the times I've done it, I can be pretty far off once in a while.

At any rate, the 2 1/2 to 3 quarts of material that you plan to have on hand is plenty overkill for even the heaviest hand and most inefficient gun, so you are fine.

Thanks Crashtech!

I appreciate the information and glad I will be good to go. Can't wait to get this baby finished!
