High Build Primer and strip car

Practicing on the truck bumpers as well as some furniture. Got me to thinking two things .......

1) I was originally just going to apply SS directly over my 3 coat epoxy base. But seeing how much paint stripping discs "swirl' and arent hidden by the epoxy thinking I might have to go with a high build. How much of the swirling will be removed from a high build (pics below from chairs/bumper).

2) Bigger issue --- have to sand a big panel truck. Ballparking it I reckon it will take me a least a full day of sanding - and I mean FULL. So .... if I leave it overnight its going to start getting some rust oxidation in the pores ...... see pics ... I live 1 block from the beach.
How am i going to deal with this the next day ? Do a quick DA 80 sand to tooth everything in and clear up surface rust then W&G and paint in the afternoon with epoxy ? Will the expovy seal in the surface rust in the pores ok and not a big deal ?

I think you would be surprised by how many of those gouges would level out by just sanding the epoxy. I would try sanding those out with 180 before applying high build. You may just need 2 more coats of epoxy, sand and paint.

Any thoughts on the dealing with spot rust overnight ....... hard to get it 100% out anyway in the pores of the older metal
