Help With Paint Color Code And Or Brand

New Member
Looking to paint my 66 Buick in a few months. This picture is the color that I want, guy told me the name is Gulf Shore blue, but has not provided any other info. Are you guys familiar with this color and if so, can you fill in the gaps pls?

I googled gulf shore blue and nothing came up. Only thing I can tell you is to visit https://paintref.com first and search blue metallic colors. There is usually a sample pic with each code.

You can also search the paint manufacturers chip books on that site.


You could also go to your favorite local paint jobber and look at their books as well. Unless someone has sprayed that color here, no one is going to be able to give you a code based on the info you have.
 
Mine was called Astro Blue in the ppg brand.
If it's an original color, the color code will be on the tag in the engine compartment on the firewall.

I have checked the color out on paint ref and same result as you. Appreciate the response, search is still on.

It’s not an original color and my request from the owner hasn’t been answered yet. Will run by my local paint store which is ppg and look at some samples. Appreciate your response. BTW, my painter has never used your products and he’s quite pleased so far. He painted my skirts as a sample.

Paint jobbers will have a special camera that they can use to come up with a close match to any color you have a sample of.

That looks pretty close. Actually you nailed it Barry. :cool: I found this page on paintref.com and the alternative name is gulfstream blue. :)


GM code is WA4026. PPG code if still valid is PPG 2165.
