Help with first satin finish

W

woody

Trying to paint bmw's frozen gray. Will be doing test runs with universal clear and flattening agents. Any tips or recommendations on starting percentage would be greatly appreciated.

For a semi-gloss, look at 1 to 1 activated and 50% flattener, should get you fairly close.
Just do one coat for a test as it will flatten faster that way and the gloss does not change with two or 3 coats, just takes longer to show the truth.

Thank you, One other question is if the final semi gloss finish doesnt turn out, is it possible to wet sand, buff the clear with flattener back to gloss shine?

i have never used #2200, was under the impression and very little sheen to it, need more of satin/semi look.

I sprayed a C6 Vette all over (Lamborghini Balloon White) with the 2200 a while back. I actually felt it had a little too much sheen for what I was trying to do. I'm familiar with the color you are going to spray and I think 2200 would be close to perfect. Are you repairing a BMW or just using this color on something else? If you are trying to repair/blend a BMW then I think it would be very close. That being said you are going to have to do sprayouts irregardless. Like Barry told me the 2200 is the way to go as you can adjust the gloss up or down. Up by adding other clear (like UV) for more gloss, or flattener to reduce it. If I'm going for the finish you are describing it's the only thing I would use. It is a very easy product to spray. The overall I did was my first time using it and it turned out perfect.
