If I final seal the car and dont get the base on it right away should I wetsand with 600 or should I maroon scotchbrite the body before base/clear?

Just trying to plan out my attack here. I still need to block sand the fenders, hood and doors..
Should I just get all the blocking done and seal it all at the same time? I would like to get the jambs done so I can assemble the car for the last time-

Seal all at once is my opinion. You can at that point paint all jams (referred too as cut in) if you like, then assemble and finish painting the outside so long as you don't go past the recoat window for the Epoxy. With careful masking you can get clean jams without much of, if any, lines. Just make sure you don't paint over any hard masking lines because they will show, if you get some overspray on the outside panel then wetsand that smooth careful not to go through the sealer. If you do go through a little I don't think it will give you any issues but you could spritz a little more sealer on the affected area and continue painting.

If you are using epoxy as the sealer (best) and if you are using a basecoat that can be sanded... Just shoot your sealer coat and let it set for an hour or two and shoot one or two coats of base. Then denib as needed and shoot your final coats of color when you are ready.

Thanks guys. My only concern is that I am painting the car red with white lemans/racing stripes. the stripes are going down into the under-hood jamb, I would really like to get the jambs painted so I can assemble the car and have a garage again, Could I just seal the jambs and paint them? Then, assemble the body. and when the time comes scuff the body one last time and seal/base/clear?

Carefull masking which includes strip placement can get the job done if that is the way your dead set on doing it.

Just running out of heat! Only 36° here in SD this morning! I'm not going to rush anything but I need to make some headway bad. Im having deck lid issue that may take a little while. I just finished laying down a skim coat of filler on the bottom of the doors that did not block out in the 2k process. So I need to re prime and hit them with 2k and sand HOPEFULLY one last time. If I could get the jambs done I could at least have the car together and start assembling/aligning other things over the winter and shoot base/clear in spring when it gets warmer again.

So I have everything blocked and ready for sealer/ paint except the deck lid. Which is going into 2k again today. Hopefully have that finished up by tomorrow. If I steal the car and spray my jambs tonight, should I spray past the jambs onto the body then assemble the car and scuff the sealer then spray? First time spraying jambs then assembling. I'm still just trying to wrap my head around where the jambs and and visible paint starts.
