Harbor Freight Black Widow

It comes down to money. I know I personally still need to get things done but I cant pay double for things I need, I am broke.

I personally wont buy cheap stuff, but I definitely cant step on the the snap-on truck anymore.

My dewalt and porta cable drills and impact guns are slowly dieing on me after the better part of a decade. I have been debating on switching over to the Hercules battery tools. Not sure yet.

I wish there was more things made in the USA as well. I’m definitely not promoting China. But unfortunately it’s the times we’re in. Hopefully we can start relying more on our own country for manufacturing…for many reasons and not just tools. But that is something that won’t happen overnight. So, I have to pick a happy medium. Unfortunately I can’t make money keeping the snap on guy in business. I’m ok with paying extra for American but not highway robbery. I have to look out for myself as well. So I try and buy quality tools I can afford. Some are American. Most these days are not. Nothing I can really do about that. I love quality tools but I’m not dropping $1500 on a set of wrenches. I suppose when it really gets down to it, certain things are worth paying a premium for very high quality…certain things it doesn’t matter much.

When I had to replace so much of my stuff after losing it in the "fire" at the Shop I had just got fired from, I got a lot of good and great stuff off of Ebay. I bought a lot of new Snap-On stuff for 1/2 of list. Lot of other name brand USA made stuff that was lightly used for good prices. Like everything else prices on ebay have gone up a lot but there are still decent deals on there if you look and wait. Tooltopia used to be great site to buy stuff from, prices are higher there now. JBtools is still a pretty good place. Just got to shop around and never just impulse purchase.

Yes, we are all in the same dilemma when it comes to finding and affording American made products. Like Chris, I go the extra mile to find made in the USA products.

Not long ago, I went to a local estate sale. Turned out the guy was a car enthusiast and had some large tool boxes that they were selling at auction. I pulled the drawer open on the biggest one and saw a number of wrenches, sockets, etc. and asked if the boxes were being sold with the tools. They said yes. So I bid on the largest one and took it home for $300. To my surprise there were many tools in that box that I did not already have and it has proven to be a great buy.

A dear friend of mine is dying from cancer. He owned a handyman business in Las Vegas for years and had two 10' x 10' storage units full of construction tools. To help him out our church agreed to purchase the tools from him and sell them at a estate/yard sale to try and re-coop our money.
We unloaded a trailer full and started trying to organize and price them. Lot's of high quality stuff, Made in the USA but when I went online to try and get prices for them, I found many are not available for purchase anymore. Fortunately eBay and Craigslist had some used one's for sale so I could set some prices for the stuff.

I was conceived in the middle of a nasty divorce, apparently my parents found common ground for one night :D...my entire life is an impulse purchase!
