Gun goes 'Putt..Putt..Putt'

I have a DeVilbiss Plus w/1.3 tip ..shooting 5100 Clear. Yesterday, I let it clear sit too long in the cup and got chunks of clear candy pieces in my first coat. Luckily, it's not a highly visible area and over neon green paint. Second coat seemed fine.

I flipped this over and to shoot the top this afternoon and the gun was acting if it was choking. I got enough material down to where I do not see anything unusual... I'm just worried that I did not clean the gun well enough or... ? One thing different, I upped the air pressure.

Reading 'The Perfect Paint Job' ...it talks about upping the air pressure if you get some runs. The DV gauge as 30-40 psi as optional. I bumped it up to about 45.

Is there anything obvious from what I wrote. I have a bigass (6' tall tank compressor) DV compressor with automatic water draining and use a Motorguard filter at the base of the gun. I only do this a few times a year, but it's really satisfying to see something looking good when done. Thanks.

Unscrew the cup and remove the air cap, then pull the trigger in a smidgen and remove the fluid nozzle exposing the area where the fluid enters the body and you will more then likely see a build up of material. Clean everything clear the holes and reassemble.

Thanks, Datec. In an inspection, I found the packing needle nut loose. I ordered a rebuild kit and will make sure it is totally clean before I get excited to shoot again. Thanks.
