Great forum! New guy with a few questions

Hi all, have to say great forum with many smart members! Love how I don't feel like I'm in the middle of a soap opera when here.

I working with my son painting a 79 MG Midget and plan on using all SPI except base. I have a few questions:

1. Couldn't strip some of the insides of the car but it's sanded with 150 will the epoxy primer adhere OK?
2. Is the 2010 SPI basecoat a solid or metallic black? Car will be solid nardo grey with solid black strip (would be nice to use SPI base for the strip).
3. Will be using shopline plus (JBP) base will I be OK using the UV clear activator with this base?

Thanks for all the knowledge!

The SPI basecoat is solid, nice deep black.

Yes, it will stick fine, but in the areas that show, you might want to smooth that out a little with something like 220, or it could possibly show later. Obviously bare metal takes all the guesswork out, there is always a chance that fresh coatings can lift or loosen old ones.

2. Is the 2010 SPI basecoat a solid or metallic black? Car will be solid nardo grey with solid black strip (would be nice to use SPI base for the strip).
Solid, like Jorge says.
3. Will be using shopline plus (JBP) base will I be OK using the UV clear activator with this base?
Probably, but I've never used Shopline. You might want to paint something small first just to make sure all the products are performing together the way they need to.

On number 3..... I've used the Euro 5102/03 and the Production 2102/3 activators in the shopline basecoat without any problems. I doubt the Universal activators would cause you any problems in it.
