GM A-body convertibles 68-72

I have two GM A-body convertibles, ones a Buick GS and the other is a Cutlass, both convertibles. If the body is solid, no major rust/rot is it necessary to brace the body before removing from the frame and installing on a rotisserie? If so, where is the best areas to brace?

I'm working on a '69 Cutlass right now. I X braced it and braced the door openings. The door braces were getting in the way and ended up removing them as I don't think I really needed them anyway.

Hi Arrowhead did you find that just the "x" was all that you needed? Did you put it on a rotisserie? I need a method to remove from frame and then onto rotisserie as well.

Arrowhead, what cartoons do you usually watch while you're working?

Yes, it's on a rotisserie. I had outlined the door brace locations on the door pillars and even after having them on and off a few times, the braces always lined up exactly so I don't think they were needed for this car anyway.

HaHa Busted! Actually no, and I have no idea what was on at that time the picture was taken.

I need to devise a plan on taking the body off the frame and setting it on the rotisserie...tips? I don't have an overhead hoist.

LOL, my shop is 250ft from the house and I ran a cable from one of the dish boxes in the house to the shop, the only problem is I can't change the channel from in the shop. My Grandaughter when she's over oftentimes changes the channel to cartoons and that's just fine.

do you have a cherry picker? Does your rotisserie adjust for height? You can do it with a floor jack and some 4x4's and tall jack stands or blocks for cribbing just go up in slow steps.

Hi Bob, I am new to rotisseries. I just put an order together with Whirly Jig Co. I would like to prepare my car for the rotisserie. I have to figure out where to brace the body and a plan to lift the body off of the frame. I order their best rotisserie, so I hope it's a good one.

The body got removed from the rotisserie and put back on the frame. I have a small scissor lift that I used to raise the frame up to meet the body. My son made up some tall bases for the jack stands so they would be high enough to support the body while the rotisserie was removed.
