Getting ready to paint my Suburban roof

What did you decide?
I’m doing the wet sanding now and it’s a pain. I’ve got clear over white and I can’t really tell how far I’m just standing down. I think I would probably be best off putting a couple more coats of clear on only because I’m really not sure how far I’ve gone. When I’m sanding all the dust residue is whitish.

I must have 40 or 50 fluorescent light tubes in my garage where I’m doing the painting and it’s still tough. This is probably the worst thing to paint as my first time with base clear. What grit should I use before I re clear?

I'm wet sanding now with 1000-1500-3000. A forum search turned up recommendations for Meguires M100 with a wool pad. What would be next? Edit: I'm doing more research. Should I use 2000 instead of 3000? The roof has 5 coats of clear

I have had better luck going over the 1000 with 1200. If not, spend a lot of time with the 1500 to completely eliminate the 1000 scratches. After the M100, almost any quality polish will work with a black foam pad to finish. Chemical Guys V36, 3D ACA 520, Sonax Perfect Finish, Menzerna 3000, all work good if you don't expect the polish to do more than it was designed for.

Be prepared for wow factor & people wanting their roofs painted.
Edit- i just browsed thread from start. Thought you were just doing a driver roof.
It'll look fantastic when complete.
